Plastics are also a good option but can be easier to strip or break under heavy torque and may require a countersunk screw to prevent this.

Drill the hole for the insert, using a countersink bit to create a slightly larger hole than the diameter of the insert. This ensures the insert sits snugly in the hole without wiggling, and the countersink will also allow the head of the screw to sit flush with the surface when you insert it.
