Eddy current detection by Fastener Nuts

Eddy current detection by Fastener Nuts

The main advantages of the nut eddy current flaw detection method are fast detection speed, no direct contact between the coil and the nut, no coupling agent, no pollution and damage to the surface, easy detection and modern automatic detection; it is especially suitable for the detection of pipes and bars. Generally tens of meters can be detected per minute.

The eddy current testing method of the fastening nut is to use the outer penetrating coil to detect the circumference of the rod and the circumference of the tube. The obtained information is the cumulative result of the influencing factors on the whole ring and the perimeter of the defect. The exact location cannot be determined.

In the manufacturing process of nuts, the eddy current testing method of nuts is mainly used for the re-inspection of the surface and near-surface quality of raw materials. In addition to detecting surface and near-surface defects of raw materials, it can also be used for sorting of different materials (identification of mixed materials).

The main limitation of the eddy current testing method for Fastener Nuts is that it can only be used for conductive materials, and it is difficult to inspect Fastener Nuts with complex shapes. Due to the skin effect, eddy current testing can only detect the surface and near-surface of thin or thick nuts; the test results are not intuitive, and it is difficult to judge the shape, size and specific location of the defect; the correctness of the test results depends on the level of the inspector .
