Custom M4 Threaded Insert Nuts Produced To Customer Drawing Requirements

Aug 17, 2026 Leave a message

We recently completed a batch of custom M4 threaded insert nuts manufactured according to a customer's technical drawing and dimensional requirements. From the external thread profile to the internal M4 thread, the parts were produced and inspected based on the specifications provided before production.

For this project, the customer required an M4 × 0.7 internal thread, an overall length of 12 ± 0.3 mm, and an external diameter controlled at Ø8 ± 0.2 mm. The drawing also specified clear external thread profiles, smooth internal threads and an effective thread length of more than 9 mm.

These details may look simple on a drawing, but they directly affect how a threaded insert nut performs during installation and repeated assembly.

Controlling the Details During Production

During production, particular attention was paid to the external thread forming process. The outside diameter and overall length needed to remain within the customer's tolerance while maintaining a clean and consistent tooth profile.

The internal thread was another important inspection point. After tapping, each M4 threaded insert needed to allow the mating screw to run smoothly without excessive resistance. Burrs, damaged threads, cracks, incomplete material and visible surface damage were also included in the inspection requirements.

The finished samples were then checked against the original drawing before the batch was approved.

For a small metal threaded insert, dimensional consistency is especially important. A slight change in outside diameter can affect installation tightness, while poor internal threading can create problems during final assembly.

A Small Part with an Important Job

This style of screw-in insert nut is commonly used in furniture, wood panels, cabinets and other assembled products where a reusable metal thread is required.

Compared with driving a screw directly into wood or engineered board, threaded inserts for wood provide a more durable connection point and make repeated assembly and disassembly easier. This is why furniture insert nuts and similar fastening components are widely used by furniture manufacturers and hardware suppliers.

Different applications may require changes in outside diameter, thread size, length, tooth profile or installation structure. For this reason, many buyers look for a custom fastener manufacturer rather than relying only on standard off-the-shelf sizes.

Custom Fasteners Made from Customer Drawings

This order is another example of our OEM fastener manufacturing process: the customer provides a drawing or sample, dimensions are reviewed, production requirements are confirmed, and samples are manufactured for inspection before larger-volume production.

Along with wood insert nuts, we can develop other custom furniture fasteners, threaded components and metal hardware according to drawings or samples.

For furniture factories and hardware distributors looking for a reliable threaded insert supplier, the most important part is not simply producing the component-it is making sure each batch matches the dimensions and assembly requirements defined at the beginning of the project.

If you are developing a new furniture hardware component or need a non-standard threaded insert nut, send us your drawing or sample. Our team can review the specifications and discuss the most suitable manufacturing solution for your project.
